Supporting Laurel Ridge Community College
Laurel Ridge Community College will be hosting a Community Drone Day on August 2nd at the Middletown Campus. Dr. Melissa will be setting up the mini-drone enclosure, there will be several industry booths, College Faculty, demonstrations, and opportunities to learn. The week of June 20th, Dr. Melissa, will be leading a drone summer camp for high school students at the Middletown campus, with Professor Andrews and other Ninja Honey Bee staff. The camp goals is to teach UAS safety, learn about career paths in UAS, learn FAA rules for recreational & commercial pilots, learn about free UAS apps, and to start preparing to take the FAA Part 107 exam.
Ninja Honey Bee staff and Dean Santicola engage approximately 3,000 middle school students during the World of Works (WoW) event April at Shenandoah University’s event center. Dr. Melissa provided the drone enclosure all drones flown at the event. NinjaHB-UAS will continue to allow the College to use the drones until they build up their own drone resources.

The classes are mostly online and students have the option to record their flight or to schedule in person with Dr. Melissa.
